Psalms 1 & 2 are the overture of the Prayerbook, and their words echo throughout all of the Psalms. Eugene Peterson classifies them as "pre-prayer" or that which is necessary before we can enter into prayer. Where Psalm 1 focused on the Word of God, Psalm 2 focuses on the Way of God (Messiah). As a Christian, this is without a doubt a Jesus psalm and is referred to more frequently than any other psalm in the New Testament (i.e. Mark 1:11). These words are an attack on the kingdoms of this world and an exultation to the kingdom of heaven. As Psalm 1 began with a blessing, Psalm 2 ends with a blessing.
"Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling." (vs. 11) God is God and we are not. Enter the prayerbook book with rejoicing and trembling.
002 Kiss the Son
Nations of earth are at war, but not with one another
Governments have taken aim at the Anointed Other
"In this God we will not trust, we only trust the choice"
And then it falls like rain, the laughter and the voice
You are my Son
I am your Father
Ask of me and I will give you the world
I will give you the world
He is the first and the last that you would not believe in
He is the way and the truth, but you would not receive him
This is Christ, the risen king, but you would not rejoice
And then it falls like rain, the laughter and the voice
You are my Son
I am your Father
Ask of me and I will give you the world
I will give you the world
So tremble now
And kiss the Son
He is the Way
He is the One

Totally true and total awesomeness, Brian. Your phrase of God is God and we are not reminds me of a mission project to White Sulphur Springs, MT last August; one of the local guys who was very involved with the church gave a message one night and said, "There are two things you gotta know. One, there's only one God, and two, you're not it."
Verily true.
Your music is both an inspiration to all and a witness to Scripture. I'm glad you're sharing it. Peace,
~ Nina

Nina-
Thanks again for your kind words. I agree that there is a whole lot of brokenness and confusion that would go away if we only realized that 1) God is God. 2) We are not.
